New Mexico Ice Wolves Host Families play a vital role in our organizations success both on and off the ice. A few special families will open their homes and hearts to our players, providing a safe place to live and an environment they can thrive in while they pursue their dream of reaching a higher level of hockey.
Host families invite these players, aged 16-20, into their homes to become part of their family for eight months of the year. Arriving in Albuquerque in late August and potentially staying to the end of May with the post season. The players take an active role in many aspects of family life with their hosts and are expected to respect the Host Family rules and the rules of the club. The values and principles for success that are essential to become a member of the Ice Wolves will be demanded at the rink, in the home, in school and in the community.
The Host Family experience will truly be rewarding, with a unique connection that lasts a lifetime. Players often keep in contact with their Host Families long after they are done playing, keeping them updated on their family and life’s accomplishments. If you ask any young player that has played away from home, their fondest memories likely include their Host Families.
